Government Fails to Provide Relief as Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged, Public Disappointed
Instead of passing on the benefit of lower international oil prices to consumers, the government increased the petroleum levy and maintained existing fuel prices for another week.
According to the official notification, the price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs 299.50 per liter, while high-speed diesel (HSD) continues to be priced at Rs 311.47 per liter.
However, the government announced a reduction in the price of kerosene oil by Rs 6.85 per liter, setting the new price at Rs 227.05 per liter.
The decision not to reduce petroleum prices in line with falling global oil prices has sparked disappointment among citizens.
Members of the public expressed frustration, saying the government should immediately reduce fuel prices to previous levels to provide relief to people already struggling under rising inflation.
Citizens argue that lower fuel prices could help reduce transportation costs and ease the burden of inflation on essential commodities, including flour, sugar, pulses, and other daily-use items.
