Ashura Processions Held Across Pakistan Amid Tight Security
In remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, Youm-e-Ashur is being observed across Pakistan with religious devotion and solemnity.
Mourning processions have started in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Peshawar, and Quetta, as well as in smaller towns across the country.
Authorities have implemented strict security arrangements to ensure public safety. Roads along procession routes have been blocked with barriers to restrict unnecessary movement, while Section 144 has been imposed in sensitive areas, banning public display of weapons.
Religious gatherings, mourning assemblies, and processions are being held nationwide, where scholars and speakers are highlighting the message of sacrifice, justice, and freedom demonstrated by Imam Hussain (RA).
Law enforcement agencies have deployed heavy contingents of police and Rangers in all major cities. Special checkpoints have been established along procession routes, while extraordinary measures are in place to prevent any untoward incident.
Due to security concerns, mobile phone and internet services have been partially suspended in certain areas. Additionally, a ban on pillion riding has been imposed in several regions to maintain law and order during Ashura observances.
The main procession in Karachi will begin from Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainian Iraniyan Imambargah, Kharadar, while central processions in Lahore and Rawalpindi will follow their traditional routes before ending at designated imambargahs.
