Rescue 1122 on High Alert for Muharram in Lahore
Rescue 1122 has implemented special emergency arrangements across Lahore on the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister to ensure the safety of mourners during Muharram. A spokesman for Rescue Punjab confirmed that rescuers have been stationed at key locations, including congregations and processions throughout the provincial capital.
A total of 1,350 rescuers, 55 ambulances, and 300 rescue motorbikes remain on high alert. To handle any major emergency, two specialized high-tech snorkels and 42 fire and rescue vehicles have also been deployed. Additionally, rescue posts have been set up near congregations to provide immediate first aid to mourners, while extra ambulances have been positioned at the front and rear of major processions.
Rescue teams are providing medical coverage to participants at various locations across Lahore, including Shadman and Islam Pura, as well as to attendees of the annual Urs of Data Ali Hajveri. So far, 34 mourners have received on-site first aid. District Emergency Officer Dr. Rizwan Ahmed Chaudhry visited the procession route from Pando Street and inspected rescue posts to review medical coverage arrangements.
In addition to Muharram-specific duties, routine rescue operations continue as usual. The Command and Control Centre Lahore and the provincial monitoring cell are overseeing all operations. Citizens have been urged to dial Rescue Helpline 1122 immediately in case of any emergency.
