LESCO Intensifies Crackdown on Power Theft in Kasur Circle; 14 Arrested
Acting on the directives of LESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has continued its large-scale operations against electricity theft across the Kasur Circle, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals involved in illegal power connections, LESCO said in a statement on Saturday (June 20).
According to a LESCO spokesperson, the special anti-power theft campaign was carried out under the supervision of Superintending Engineer (SE) Kasur Circle, Anwar Wattoo, in the Phool Nagar and Chunian divisions. The operations were conducted with the support of Rangers personnel to ensure effective enforcement and legal action against offenders.
During the crackdown, authorities detected a total of 20 direct electricity supply connections being used illegally in the Phool Nagar and Chunian subdivisions. Teams also confiscated 49 electricity meters and one transformer, while several low-tension (LT) lines used for unauthorized power consumption were dismantled, significantly disrupting electricity theft networks in the area.
The spokesperson stated that the operations led to the recovery of Rs1.585 million in cash, while the total value of recoveries and penalties imposed exceeded Rs2.505 million.
LESCO CEO Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt reaffirmed the company's commitment to continuing indiscriminate action against electricity thieves throughout the LESCO region, emphasizing that strict measures will remain in place to curb power theft and protect national resources.
