Strong Earthquake Tremors Jolt Balochistan, Trigger Panic Among Residents
A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Balochistan on Friday, causing strong tremors and widespread panic among residents in several areas of the province.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at 10:58 AM. The epicenter was located approximately 65 kilometers northeast of Kohlu district in Balochistan.
Officials said the quake had a depth of 18 kilometers, with coordinates recorded at 30.40 degrees north latitude and 69.68 degrees east longitude.
The sudden tremors prompted people to rush out of homes, offices, and shops in fear, as panic spread across the affected region.
Initial reports indicate no immediate loss of life or property damage. However, relevant authorities are closely monitoring the situation and assessing any possible impact in remote areas.
Balochistan is considered one of Pakistan’s seismically active regions and frequently experiences low to moderate intensity earthquakes.
