Eight people drowned when a boat capsized in Sutlej river in Okara district on Monday. The incident took place in Malhu Sheikha area of the district.
Residents of the area initiated a rescue operation immediately after the incident. Seven bodies were recovered according to eyewitnesses. 
font size="4">According to details, eight dead bodies have been recovered from the river whereas ten people have been saved. The rescue operation by official teams and locals in large numbers is ongoing to find the missing persons.
