7-Day Anti-Polio Campaign Launched in Karachi, Target Set to Vaccinate 2.5 Million Children
The campaign was inaugurated by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi during a ceremony held at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH).
Addressing the event, Commissioner Naqvi emphasized the importance of achieving the vaccination target, stating that Karachi remains under global scrutiny due to its role in Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate polio.
Officials said the special anti-polio campaign will be conducted across all 201 Union Councils (UCs) in Karachi to ensure maximum coverage.
According to the Sindh Health Department, 7,853 police personnel have been deployed to provide security for polio vaccination teams throughout the campaign.
Authorities have urged parents and guardians to cooperate with health workers and ensure that every child under the age of five receives polio drops to help eliminate the disease from Pakistan.
